The Quantum VS XML Highways 'Network Services Division' is able to deliver the benefits of fully integrated networking technologies as a connectivity solution to support mission critical, multi-user application software, and for office productivity applications.

Our full range of services are listed below. For more information please contact our Marketing Department at marketing@xmlhighway.com:

  Performance Evaluation of Existing Networks

If you find your network is not delivering the performance you require or once enjoyed, allow the 'Network Services Division' to conduct a comprehensive evaluation and report.

Highly trained professionals will evaluate your network to identify those areas where bandwidth is being over utilised.

By making low cost changes to existing network topology or by adding intelligent devices, optimum performance may be achieved and/or restored.

Design & Implemetation of Peer to Peer Networks

A Peer to Peer Network is an ideal solution for the small office. If you have less than 10 PC's and need e-mail, Internet access, shared Windows resources and printers, then you should consider a Peer to Peer Network Solution.

  Windows NT 4 & Windows 2000 Domains

If your network includes more than 10 PC's, then re-configuring each PC to reflect topology changes or password changes may require significant effort.

For networks incorporating 10 to many hundred PC's, a more supportable solution would be to install a low cost Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 domain.

The domain model provides the Network Administrator with full control across the complete network from a single administration point.

This Network Administration includes:

  •  Password Changes.
  •  Security Policies.
  •  Enforcing network security policy(ies).
  •  Controlled access to data files and network resources.
  •  Restricting client downloads from the Internet or through the  local area network.

Citrix & Linux Thin Client Networks

If you require a totally managed solution with minimal administrative overheads, then consider a 'Thin Client' Network.

Using either Citrix or Linux, 'back-office' applications and terminal emulators may be installed on a central server(s).

Users may only execute those applications to which they have authorised access, and are prohibited from downloading software onto their desktop or central server(s).

A Thin Client Network is more costly to implement, but when implemented in a multi-site environment, will require significantly less administration than either the Peer to Peer or Domain model, resulting in reduced operational cost.

  e-mail Solutions

e-mail is a standard business tool and our 'Network Services Division' is able to deliver and manage a number of solutions installed either locally, at a clients office, or mounted directly at fastfreenet.com, our business grade Internet Service.

  Anti-Virus Packages

New viruses appear almost on a daily basis creating great user difficulty.

The 'Network Services Division' can deliver, implement and manage, single and multi-site anti-virus configurations.

Properly installed and configured Anti-Virus software will scan files and e-mails when opened, preventing known viruses from infecting first a single desktop and then the whole network.

Where a connection to the Internet exists, then Anti-Virus software can be delivered and configured to automatically download updates.

These updates may then be uploaded to client PC's the next time the Users logs on.

  Firewalls and Proxy Servers

Unwanted intrusions or 'hacking' occur if an unprotected Internet connection exists. Even a dial-up connection will expose a network to attack.

A Firewall is a hardware/software solution that examines network packets as they flow to and from the Internet. Based on rule sets, decisions are taken automatically to allow the packets to enter or exit the host network.

A Proxy Server hides a networks true identity from external connections. The Proxy Server may be required to translate internal, unregistered IP addresses to registered IP addresses which can be used to access the Internet or as an added layer of security.

There are a number of solutions available, from 'shareware' Packet Filtering software to powerful commercial products.

Once a requirement is fully understood, then the 'Network Services Division' will be able to recommend an appropriate and cost effective solution.

  Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)

Voice over IP is an emerging technology delivering digitized voice communications, transmitted between telephone systems using Wide Area Networks (WAN's).

Currently VoIP technology is relatively expensive to implement. However, if there is a high volume of inter-office telephone calls, then the initial costs will be recovered over a relatively short time period.

Telephone systems using VoIP must have the capability of supporting E&M cards. If implementation of VoIP is considered, then our 'Network Services Division' is able to design and implement a complete solution.

  fastfreenet.com Internet Services (ISP)

fastfreenet.com is a business grade Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Application Services Provider (ASP), hosting both Customer websites and applications.

fastfreenet.com is available as a cost effective Internet Service, offering all the functionality associated with an ISP but delivering superior performance.

Local & Remote Network Management & Monitoring

The 'Network Services Division' is able to monitor the health and performance of client networks and servers. This is achieved from a remote location utilising fastfreenet.com's monitoring servers, or locally by installing and configuring sophisticated monitoring software.

Wherever the monitoring software is installed, it can be configured to alert either our clients or our Network Services personnel, if and when a significant event occurs.

Typical alerts are:

  •  Network or Server unreachable.
  •  Bandwidth exceeded.
  •  Insufficient free disk space.
  •  Insufficient swap space
  •  Mail or Web service failure.
