information you are looking for, please contact us using the Service
Enquiries section.
Is the XML Highway secure?
The XML Highway transports documents using Secure
Sockets Layer encryption (SSL), a protocol
that transmits your communications over the Internet in an encrypted form.
SSL ensures that the information is sent, unchanged, only to the server
you intended it to be sent to.
What document types can I send?
You may send any electronic document types to any
trading partner(s). Example of documents sent are: Invoices, Sales Orders,
Purchase Orders, Order Acknowledgements, Product Information, Price Updates,
Proofs-of-Delivery etc.
What kind of EDI data can I send using the XML
Highway?
The XML Highway does not concern itself with the
content of the EDI document, only the transport. XML Highway works with
almost any data type including EDI, XML, CSV & Text -files (.txt).
What are Active & Passive Trading Partners
Active Trading Partners initiate the trading partner
relationship by joining the XML Highway service in order to send documents
to Passive Trading Partners (recipent).
Active Trading Partners have the power to set-up relationships with anyone
and also administer their use of the service.
Passive Trading Partners however, may only receive or send documents to
that person who has set up the trading relationship (Active Trading Partner).
Is there any software to install?
The only software to install is the XML Highway Integration
Client. This is mounted onto a PC connected to your back-office system.
A Windows application, this provides control for collecting and sending
documents to and from your system. As a free distributable software
CD, you may send copies to your trading partners, enabling them to use it
for collection and delivery of documents with yourself.
What data standards are supported?
The XML Highway is not dependent upon any data standards.
Suppliers may send any electronic business document that their existing
system produces. The XML Highway transforms your documents into a
format suitable for the recipient. File formats for transformations include
XML, EDI, CSV and Text-Files.
How do I send documents from my
system?
Using the XML Highway Administration Client, you
send documents from your back-office system to your trading partner(s).
Documents are sent over the Internet to the XML Highway Server, where your
trading partner may either collect them, or you may specify that they are
to be delivered directly to their 'collected' folder on their PC. Features
of the Integration Client allow you to automate such frequently used functions
eg; frequency of delivery and with which specified trading partner(s).
How do I receive documents from
a trading partner(s)?
Again, using the XML Highway Administration Client,
documents may be delivered directly to your 'Collected' folder, or you may
look in your 'To Collect' folder and collect them from the XML Server.
Can I send documents globally?
Yes, there are no boundaries to sending documents.
Because the XML Highway uses the Internet for tansportation, anyone, anywhere
may connect to the XML Highway and collect or have delevered, electronic
documents.
What is the Return On Investment
using the XML Highway?
ROI is highly dependant upon transaction volume. For small vendors, the
XML Highway may not be a matter of savings, but rather a way to interact
with a larger supply chain. For larger enterprises, the XML Highway can
have a significant ROI. Once using the XML Highway, the only cost to your
business is an annual service charge.
